Monday mornings have a reputation. They’re the start of a new week, a fresh slate, and for many, a return to the humdrum of life. That particular Monday was no different for me. The weekend had been a haze, overshadowed by the aftermath of a surgery I had on Friday. The medications had kept me bedridden, but by Monday, I was restless, eager to dive back into work. With my modern sling bag comfortably resting on my right shoulder and my phone securely held in my left hand, I stood waiting for the train. I was a good five steps away from the track, lost in thoughts of the day ahead.

But life, as I’ve come to realize, has a way of throwing curveballs when you least expect them.

Suddenly, you were there. A whirlwind with a hefty bag, you crashed into me with such unexpected force that I was left reeling. My bag was thrown off my shoulder, landing with a thud. My phone, a tool I heavily relied on for work, slipped from my grasp, crashing face-down onto the platform. The world seemed to blur as I staggered, my feet stopping just a step away from the train track.

The physical shock of the collision was harsh, but what hurt deeper, what cut to the very core of my being, was your complete and utter indifference. You didn’t stop. You didn’t look back. You didn’t even acknowledge the chaos you’d caused. You just…
