People Need to Start Talking About Money Early in Dating
Dating is often a hit or a miss, and amidst all the excitement and butterflies, one crucial topic tends to be brushed under the carpet — money. It’s a bit baffling, really. We all know that finance-related issues are frequently cited as one of the top reasons for breakups or divorces. So why do we often leave this critical conversation for the last moment? I’m not implying that money is the be-all and end-all of a relationship, but avoiding this tough talk can hurt both parties involved in the long run.
Transparency
I believe in being upfront, but not necessarily on the first date. By the second date, however, it might be wise to ease into discussions about financial transparency. This doesn’t mean presenting bank statements or discussing salaries right away. Rather, it’s about sharing views on savings, budgeting, and general financial habits.
