I Purged 48% of My LinkedIn Connections This Year
If you had asked me a few months ago to name even half of my LinkedIn connections, I would have drawn a blank. You see, over the years, my LinkedIn had transformed into something akin to a digital Rolodex, packed with names I barely recognized. This year, I decided to change that.
When I first joined LinkedIn in my undergrad days, I was eager to connect with as many people as possible. The more, the merrier, I thought. But honestly? I can’t for the life of me remember why I accepted some requests or sent a few myself. Fast forward to today, and I realized I was part of a network filled with people I couldn’t recall at all.
LinkedIn, at its core, is a platform for professional networking. It’s supposed to be a place where meaningful connections are forged, offering avenues for career growth and learning. I’ve had my fair share of great interactions and opportunities through LinkedIn. But let’s be real, a large chunk of my connections were just there for the sake of being added.
